Year 6 pupil Emerson G has recently appeared in a new McCain advert, created in partnership with Beyond Equality to support positive relationships between fathers and sons.

Emerson’s involvement began when his father, Steve, spotted a casting call on Facebook inviting fathers and sons to apply. After being shortlisted and successfully selected, the pair travelled to London to take part in filming. The finished advert features five father-and-son duos, with Emerson and Steve showcasing a magic trick together.

As part of the experience, Emerson and his dad also took part in a professional photoshoot led by world-renowned photographer Rankin. During the shoot, they were joined by well-known figures including Joe Marler and Josh Widdicombe.

Reflecting on the experience, Emerson said:

“I was very excited about going to film the advert and take part in the photoshoot. I really enjoyed both days, especially the session with Rankin, seeing his gallery and all the famous people he has photographed… and we got to eat lots and lots of yummy chips!”

The campaign highlights the importance of strong role models and meaningful connections between men and boys.

You may already have spotted Emerson on screen — the advert is now being broadcast nationally.
