Year 8 pupil Alice S has her eye on Cheerleading Worlds, in Orlando, America, after a successful year competing.

Alice discovered she loved cheerleading when she went along with a friend to try a class at Panache Cheer School, in Brighouse – where she soon found a passion for it given its gymnastic and teamwork elements.

Alice went on to win two medals in her first team cheerleading competition in Germany and plans to compete in national UK competitions in the run up to worlds, which take place next April.

The role Alice has within the team is a ‘base’ and she has been undergoing strength and conditioning training in the BGS gym alongside weekly cheer routine practise. Her hard work and commitment to the club paid off and she secured two medals in Germany, including a silver.

Said Alice: “There were four routines and I was in one. It was really fun and the team is really nice and I’ve made lots of friends through it.”
