Bradford Grammar School is using the latest business networking technology to support its network of illustrious alumni with the launch of a new app.
‘Beyond Bradford’ offers the opportunity for Old Bradfordians to set up new profiles or import their profiles from LinkedIn, develop professional connections with one another and mentor students or young graduates.
Sarah Flaherty, Head of Higher Education and Careers at BGS, said: “Time is often short, so being able to use a networking app that is engaging with informative, ‘bite-sized’, information is of primary importance. We want former pupils who range from recruiters, job seekers, professionals and friends of BGS to easily find what they’re looking for – right from their home screen.”
“The app is essentially like a tailored version of LinkedIn for our former pupils. It might take a long time for our former pupils to build up connections on LinkedIn, but they are already waiting for them on Beyond Bradford. For graduates, it’s a one-stop-shop of willing mentors and experts in their field supporting them to be successful in their careers – they just need to sign up.”
BGS Headmaster, Simon Hinchliffe, said: “The affection that Old Bradfordians feel towards their alma mater is palpable and one of our many strengths. We are deeply grateful to those OBs who support the school and each other, giving talks, offering work experience, and attending careers events. Many OBs want to give something back.”
