“UCAS offers are rolling in, including seven Oxbridge ones, and I am thrilled for our Year 13 students. From the start of their A Level courses, they have embodied our school values of ‘excellence’ and making the most of ‘opportunity’. They uplift and encourage their peers and it is great to see them celebrating each other’s successes. No matter where their next steps take them, they continue to make me incredibly proud.”

“I was filled with both relief and excitement upon receiving my offer – relief at achieving my long-held goal and excitement for the challenges ahead. What drew me to Natural Sciences at Cambridge was the immense range of possibilities it offers. With the flexibility to explore a wide array of scientific disciplines, I can shape my own path, discovering opportunities I may not have even imagined yet. I am deeply grateful for the support I received, not only from our admissions tutors but from every member of the teaching staff at BGS. As an external and international student, I never felt hindered in my progress, thanks to our wonderful community. Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a career in academia, focusing on neuroscience research.”
Elizabeth Gibbins
Elizabeth GibbinsLiberal Arts, University of Durham
“I was over the moon to receive my offer! I’ve always been interested in English, Politics, International Relations, and Geography, but I wasn’t sure which one to focus on and Liberal Arts allows me to explore them all holistically while keeping English as my core subject. I hope that by studying a mix of subjects, I’ll discover new opportunities and pathways I hadn’t considered before. Whatever I end up doing, I’d love a career that involves critical thinking, creativity, and engagement with the wider world.”

“It felt quite stressful waiting for the decision letter to be sent but finally reading it felt incredibly relieving. The application process was challenging but still manageable due to the friendly interviewers. The mock interviews given by school made the real ones feel a lot less daunting!”
Zeya Khan
Zeya Khan Technology Analyst Degree Apprenticeship, Barclays
“Getting the offer was such a surreal moment – it made everything feel real and exciting. I chose Manchester not only for the opportunity at Barclays, but because of the city’s vibrant culture and diversity. It’s a place full of energy, with a rich history in tech and innovation, and I’m excited to be a part of it. The apprenticeship gives me the perfect chance to gain hands-on experience while studying for my degree in Digital and Technology Solutions. I’m really looking forward to working on tech projects and learning from experts in the field. As for the future, I’m excited to see where this apprenticeship will take me, and I’m keen to explore different areas of tech along the way.”
Olivia Taylor
Olivia TaylorLaw, University of Newcastle
“My aspiration has always been to pursue a career in law and receiving my offer to study law felt like this was finally becoming a reality. My first-choice university is Newcastle, as the course sounds interesting and includes an appealing opportunity to study law abroad for a year. The support and encouragement from my teachers at BGS made the application process less stressful for me. I was encouraged to be ambitious and aim high.”
William Palmer
William PalmerUniversity of Leeds, Medicine
“Getting an offer in such a competitive field is very rare and finding out I had been successful filled me with excitement but also relief. The application process for medicine is brutal and receiving my offer made me realise that all my hard work had paid off. I’ve always had a passion for science, and I love to help and connect with people, so I am grateful to get the chance to combine this as a chosen career. I have made the most of my time at BGS, keeping myself busy and developing skills that I can take into the next stage of my life. BGS gave me the foundation and support I needed to achieve all that I could.”
Yuvraj Grewal

“After months of hard work and uncertainty, receiving an offer from the University of Newcastle reassured me that my efforts had paid off. It was also a moment of validation, knowing that my chosen university saw potential in me. I enjoy drawing connections between the two subjects, such as how economic policies influence political decisions and vice versa. This combination has developed my analytical skills and my ability to assess complex issues, which I look forward to expanding further at university.”
Archie Appleton
Archie AppletonUniversity of Oxford, Chemistry
“I was both delighted and shocked at receiving an offer to study Chemistry at Oxford. I chose to apply because my dad has always spoken about how much he enjoyed his time there and the university’s reputation is immense. I’m very grateful to my chemistry teachers who arranged mock interviews in advance of my interviews to help me prepare. I’m looking forward to studying a subject I’m passionate about and enjoying the social life of a university student in the special city of Oxford. I also really enjoy hockey so will be keen to represent the university but I’m also excited to get involved with new sports like rowing.”
