Sixth Form Life
At BGS, your commitment, loyalty and hard work are more highly regarded than any God-given talent you may be lucky enough to have…The more you put in at BGS, the more you get out. So wrote James Lewis when he left School in 2006.
The Sixth Form Centre acts as the focus for the academic, sporting and social life for sixth formers at BGS. Students are encouraged to get involved and to find their niche at the school. Tthere is plenty of opportunity for involvement from organising Balls and the Year Book, to helping younger pupils in the paired reading scheme; meeting and discussing issues of the day, business or academic topics with visitors eminent in their field; exchanging views on matters of faith through the school’s Faith Links Forum or just having fun with friends. The days are as busy as you want them to be.
Bursaries specific to sixth form study are available for those students whose parents are unable to pay the full fees. Bursaries are means tested and a form should be completed when applying for entry. Recent bursary recipients have included Ogden Scholars Liz Crolla, who is now an Ogden Scholar at Liverpool University studying Medicine, Ruth Derham who is studying Medicine at Dundee and Alex La Via who went on to study Chemistry at Oxford. Alice Horsey, currently in the Upper Sixth form, is supported by the London Old Bradfordian Association; Imogen Cummings is supported by the North American Old Bradfordians; Aoife Sefton, who received a Hockney bursary for Art in the Sixth Form, is now at King’s College, London. N G Bailey also support students through the Sixth Form. Saida Khan who received their scholarship for engineering, is currently at Bradford University studying Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and they support two current students, Charles Moorey and Tom Myers.
