We understand that moving schools is not an easy decision. We welcome numerous students into Sixth Form from a wide range of other schools. You will be invited for interviews so we can find out more about you, your interests and your talents. We will also ask to see a recent report and for a reference from your current school, including your forecasted GCSE grades.
The criteria for admission are:
|General requirements||GCSE grade B or above (or Grade 6 or above) in Mathematics and English Language|
|Course requirement||GCSE grade A or A* (or Grade 7, 8 or 9) in the subjects to be studied
Students who wish to study subjects in the Sixth Form that are not normally offered at GCSE (Economics, Business, Politics, Psychology, Classical Civilisation) will be expected to achieve GCSE grades in line with our general entry requirements. GCSE Mathematics at grade A or A* (or grade 7, 8 or 9) is strongly recommended for A Level Economics
It is possible to study some subjects in the Sixth Form that have not been studied at GCSE, for example History or Religious Studies. In these cases, we would expect GCSE grades in line with our general entry requirements and high GCSE grades in similar subjects (e.g. English)
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact us if they narrowly miss these requirements or to discuss our entry criteria further
|Satisfactory reference||Satisfactory reference from the applicant’s present school|
|Interview||Demonstrating in a range of interviews the ability and enthusiasm necessary for success at A level|
|Bursary requirement||Minimum of GCSE 6 x A* grades (or 6 passes at grade 8 or 9) (including all subjects to be taken at A Level)|
Please read the ‘Applications for Sixth Form Entry September 2017‘ for further details.

The application form should be completed with your predicted GCSE grades. Following receipt of the completed forms interviews will be arranged with the Heads of Department of your four chosen subjects.

If you wish to apply for a bursary you should tick the appropriate box on the application form. Bursaries are given on a means-tested basis; each case being reviewed annually.
The award depends on parental circumstances, demand at the time of entrance and the academic ability of the candidate (candidates looking for bursary support will need gain a minimum of 6 A* grades at GCSE). It may be that because of the performance of the candidate in her/his GCSEs we may be able to offer a place but with no bursary support. Applications will be considered following publication of GCSE results on Thursday 24 August 2017.
