The estimated cost of the first three components of the project (including all professional fees and VAT) is slightly in excess of £4 million. Last year an Old Bradfordian (who wishes to remain anonymous) donated over £1 million to the school. The realisation of most of the school’s unrestricted investments (free reserves), when added to the anonymous donation and the gift from Roger Evans, means that we are in a position to fund this capital project.
In an ideal world, as well as refurbishing the KRB, we would re-model the main school at the same time in order to take advantage of the economies of scale. At present we do not have the funds available to start work on the main school dimension of the project; we plan to make these improvements over one or two successive academic years using the annual budget set aside for refurbishment.

This is where friends of the school and those who share our commitment to science could help. Whilst we do not intend to run a formal appeal we are aware that there are those within the BGS community and beyond who would welcome the opportunity to support us and become involved in this exciting and innovative project. Any additional support could result in accelerating the time scale of the entire project, which would obviously provide significant educational and financial benefits to the school.
On a personal level I would dearly love to replenish as much as possible of the £2 million the school has committed to the development. Should you (or someone you may know) wish to contribute to the financing and furnishing of our new facilities please contact me directly. There will be opportunities for individuals or organisations to, for example, name a classroom or laboratory and should this be of interest I would be delighted to explore this principle in further detail. However, I must emphasise that any level of contribution will be deeply valued and acknowledged. The less we use from the school’s unrestricted investments, the more we can put into bursaries to enable bright boys and girls whose families do not have the means to find the fees to benefit from all that BGS has to offer.
