Bradford Grammar School is pleased to offer a number of means-tested bursaries for new pupils joining us in Year 7 (age 11) and the Sixth Form (age 16). Bradford Grammar School does not provide bursary awards for Junior School pupils.
Bursaries for pupils joining us in Year 7 (September 2017)
Bradford Grammar School operates a Bursary Fund which aims to provide financial assistance to approximately 10 children who do exceptionally well (finishing in the top 10% of all candidates) in the Year 7 Senior School entrance examination but whose parents are unable to afford the fees.
We are now no longer able to take requests for bursary support for Year 7 September 2017 entry. All completed Bursary Financial Assessment paperwork and supporting documentation needs to be with us by 4pm on 23 November 2016. Further details regarding the date of the bursary assessment tests will be posted out to applicants by 25 November.
However, those children who do not meet the required criteria to qualify for a bursary award following this assessment will be informed and parents will then have the option of whether or not to enter their son/daughter for a full-fee place at the Year 7 entrance examinations. The entrance examinations are scheduled to take place during the week commencing 23 January 2017, further details will be added to the website at the start of January 2017.
Final decisions on which applicants will receive a bursary and the amount of the award will be made once the results of the entrance examination are available. All decisions will final.
Bursaries are provided on a means-tested basis and will be reviewed annually. The award depends on:
Demand for bursary assistance is always significantly in excess of monies available. It may be, therefore, that because of the performance of the candidate in the examination we are able to offer a place but with no financial assistance.
How to apply

Further details regarding the date of the bursary assessment tests will be posted out to applicants by 25 November.
Details of the amount of any bursary award are sent out with the offer of a place if applicable. As a general rule a bursary award can be made to those families whose total income is below £60,000 (earnings include salaries, benefits, profits, investment income etc.) and whose children finish within the top 10% of all candidates sitting the Year 7 examination. Please note we do not award bursaries of 100%.

Bursaries for pupils joining us in the Sixth Form
If you wish to apply for a bursary please indicate this on your Sixth Form application form. Candidates looking for bursary support will need gain a minimum of 8 A* grades at GCSE. It may be that, because of the performance of the candidate in her/his GCSEs, we are able to offer a place but with no bursary support.
