Students wishing to continue on to university or other higher education establishments receive advice from the staff attached to the higher education department. The department is well stocked with up-to-date reference material which is accessible in the Sixth Form Centre at all times. The most popular university destinations amongst recent leavers are Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Newcastle, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester, with Medicine and Business related courses the most popular choices. Occasionally students choose to study abroad, usually in the USA. Those students wishing to apply to Oxford and Cambridge receive expert advice and guidance during the summer and autumn terms prior to application.
