The Art Department consists of three purpose built studios which are used by all pupils from Year 4 in the Junior School through to the Fifth form in Senior School, and the Lodge, the Sixth Form Art studio for AS and A level study. There are three full time and two part-time members of staff who teach across the whole age range with varied specialisms. The department is, however, primarily a Fine Art department specialising in painting and drawing.
Pupil numbers within the department have increased steadily over the last ten years and enthusiasm for the subject grows each year.
Examination results are excellent at both GCSE and A level with pupils often achieving full marks in both coursework and timed submission.
The department exhibits its work around the whole school and holds occasional full school exhibitions inviting pupils, parents and staff from both our own school and other institutions. The department also produces set designs for theatrical productions in school and organises at least two Art trips a year in both this country and abroad. Places recently visited include Paris, Rome, Florence, Amsterdam, New York and Whitby.
