The school buildings range from an impressive frontage and lawns, a main hall (described by many as ‘Hogwarts’) and a range of traditional and more modern classrooms, sports facilities (including competition standard swimming pool) and Hockney Theatre.

Facilities

The School regularly hosts performances, charity balls, community groups, meetings and sports fixtures. It has also been a venue for TV, having hosted Question Time and The Big Questions on the BBC and been used as a venue for several feature films.

BGS is featured on Creative England’s database for filming locations, studios and facilities. A pioneering not-for-profit company Creative England is dedicated to unlocking the creative power of our country to drive national prosperity and accelerates talent and ideas across tech, games, film and TV.

The Bradford Film Office (First UNESCO City Of Film) recently visited BGS to showcase our locations available for TV and film production.

All the profits are reinvested into the School for the benefit of pupils. The School also strives to be part of the wider Bradford Community and continues to let out many of its facilities to local clubs and community groups through its trading company BGS Commercial Activities Limited.

BGS is also listed on Independent Schools for Hire, a dedicated website displaying the outstanding facilities available to hire at some of the UK’s best independent schools.

The School has a wide range of facilities and rooms available for hire for all types of activities and events. Parking is free for up to 120 cars (outside term time) and situated just a mile from Bradford city centre our location is convenient for access to and from the major motorways.

Our wonderful Price Hall, used regularly for assemblies, musical performances as well as for exams, is a popular venue for the Bradford Choral Society, charity balls, parents’ association events and fundraising events ,including our regular fashion show.

Hockney Theatre

Clarkson Library

Two storey building with Junior School Library. Break out areas double as Junior and Senior class areas with a large, touch-screen PC. Senior School Library including sofa seating section with newspapers/journals and Sixth Form study area that doubles as discussion and debating zone.

The library holds the School’s impressive archive, varied selection of fiction and non-fiction books plus Chromebooks.

Refectory

The refectory and servery deal with over 1,000 people every day preparing fresh, healthy and popular food choices for children and young people within the BGS community. The main refectory seating area accommodates 249 for a sit-down meal and is regularly used for drinks receptions for up to 280 people.

A further dining space is available on a balcony for small groups of 2-3 next to the refectory as well as a larger dining area for a group of up to 18.

The dedicated, in-house catering team can provide all your catering needs. From a simple breakfast meeting with tea, coffee and freshly baked pastries, working lunches with food to eat on the go, to afternoon tea, banquets and formal dinners. We can cater for every size of function from small team meetings up to 350 covers for any event.

Brownlee Sports Pavilion

The modern Brownlee Pavilion–officially named in honour of the Brownlees in 2016–has six team changing rooms at ground level. On the first floor there is a main meeting room which includes a timeline installation tracing the Brownlees’ sporting achievements and memorabilia from BGS’s sporting history. An outside balcony overlooks the pitches and has direct access to ground level via an outside staircase. A separate, smaller, ‘VIP’ meeting room has space for smaller meetings up to 12 people. It includes AV and a second external balcony with views over the sports pitches. Catering facilities ensure that meetings have everything they need to be self-contained for day-long sessions.
Sixth Form Centre

Our dedicated Sixth Form Centre with full WiFi offers outstanding surroundings for the happiness and success of our Sixth Form students.
