May 2013
Another Pool Lifeguard course will commence at school on a Thursday evening from 12 September through to the end of November; each session being from 4:15 - 8:30pm . This is a nationally recognised qualification and also awards certification for First Aid at Work. The final assessment day would be on Thursday 28 November. Students must be aged 16 to take part. The cost is around £175 (to be confirmed). Contact Bryan Townsend for further information or to lodge an interest.
There are still places on the BGS Race for Life team. The race takes place in Lister Park (BD9 4NR) on Sunday 9 June at 10:30am. You are welcome to take part, either running or walking, and there will of course be refreshments provided at school after the event.
The school year 2013-14 is the BGS Boat Club's Diamond Jubilee. The current Boat Club Parents' Association are launching a major initiative, seeking financial pledges to enable the purchase of a high quality lightweight Eight boat to be named 'Jubilee'. We would hope to purchase the boat in Spring 2014.

Quiz Night
The BGS Tennis Parents' Association would like to invite you to their Annual Quiz Night which takes place this year on Thursday 6 June.
BGS Art Forum would like to welcome all parents and pupils to attend our forthcoming events, starting 23 May with a cheese and wine evening and have a go at creating your own art work. You do not need to bring any art materials as all will be provided. Please come along and have fun. You DO NOT have to be good at Art, you don't even have to understand it. We feel even the smallest appreciation of art in the widest sense enhances everyone and it would be fantastic if you, your family and friends would like to join us.

There will be spaces in both the Beginners and Improvers swimming lessons which take place after school each Tuesday from September. The students do not need to be studying at BGS to take up these swimming lessons. Please contact Bryan Townsend to place your child's name on the register.
